Kit guide
Premier League shirts
Everything worth knowing before you buy a shirt, and the two shops we send people to.
Where to buy
Fanatics
A big selection of Premier League club kits, home and away, with official printing available. This is a US-based store, so if you're ordering from outside North America, check the shipping cost and delivery time before you commit. Prices sit at RRP most of the year, with real discounts once a kit is replaced.
Authentic or replica?
Every club sells two versions of the same shirt, and the price gap is large.
- Replica is the one most fans buy. Looser cut, heavier fabric, same badge and sponsor. Comfortable to wear to the pub or the match.
- Authentic (sometimes called "player issue" or "match") is what the players actually wear. Tighter, lighter, more technical fabric, and usually a good deal more expensive.
Unless you're playing in it, replica is the sensible buy. The authentic version mainly costs more for a cut that's less forgiving.
Getting the size right
Football shirts run smaller than normal t-shirts, and authentic versions run smaller again. If you're between sizes, or buying authentic, size up. Check the retailer's size guide rather than assuming your usual size carries over, since Nike, adidas, Puma and Castore all cut differently.
When new kits come out
Home kits usually land in late spring or early summer, before the season starts. Away and third kits follow through the summer and sometimes into autumn. If you want a kit cheap, the time to buy is when its replacement is announced — the outgoing shirt gets discounted hard.
Name and number printing
Official Premier League printing costs extra on top of the shirt, and it's usually non-refundable once applied. Worth thinking twice before putting a player's name on a shirt in January, when he might be at another club by February.
A note on what we link to
We only link to shops we'd point a mate at. If a retailer stops being worth recommending, the link comes off this page. The affiliate commission doesn't change what the fixture grid, captain picks or any other tool shows — those come straight from the game's own data.
